Di Canio: 'I Think We Are The Better Team In This League'

Never one to hold back on his words, and his side are certainly built in the Italian's image, the Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio praised his teams goals in their JPT regional last four win over Southend United.

Di Canio: 'We have kept our own run going against a very good Southend side'

You can say what you like about Robins boss Paolo Di Canio, no you can, but his team are on in great form, and the ball ran well for them Tuesday evening at Roots Hall where Swindon turned around a 62nd minute Blair Sturrock goal to win their Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern semi-final 2-1 against the Shrimpers.

Di Canio told www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk: “Paul (Caddis) has great technique and the ball landed right in the back of the net. It was his first goal of the season and I hopefully he can get more goals, because he gets into good positions. Ronan (Murray) arrived in the box at a good moment and did well. He attacked the space in the right way and got the reward with the goal. He came on and did well.”

Interesting, seeing as the first Robins scorer has admitted he was trying to cross the ball, 'great technique' indeed!   Anyway, as our 17 game unbeaten run comes to an end, Swindon's has now reached 13, dangerous opponents indeed, who we next meet in the League on Saturday, January 28th, now that will be a fun day.

Di Canio concluded: “We have kept our own run going against a very good Southend side. I think we are the better team in this league, but we have to be playing at the top of our game like we did in the second half tonight.”
