Decision Day: 'I know who is going and who is staying and what areas I need to sign players in'

Southend United manager Paul Sturrock will start talking to players whose one-year deals are coming to an end whether they have a future at Roots Hall. Twelve members of Blues' first team squad have deals that expire at the end of the season. And the Blues boss will today be letting them know if he wants them to stay. Those players who will soon be out of contract are goalkeepers Glenn Morris and Rhys Evans, defenders Graham Coughlan, Luke Prosser and Johnny Herd, midfielders Craig Easton, Adam Bouzid, Louie Soares, Miguel Comminges and Merrick James-Lewis plus strikers Blair Sturrock and Kyle Asante. Sturrock already has 12 players signed up for next season including key perfomers Sean Clohessy, Bilel Mohnsi, Anthony Grant, Barry Corr, Lee Sawyer, Ryan Hall, Chris Barker and Kane Ferdinand. Left-back Peter Gilbert also has another year on his contract, along with out of favour striker Matt Paterson, injury plagued centre-back Mark Phillips and young forward Harry Crawford. Sturrock told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I will be holding meetings with all of the players who are going to be out of contract. It's not a nice part of the job but I will be honest with the players and it's something which needs to be done. By my calculations there are 12 players out of contract and those who I offer deals too I would like them to sign before the end of the season so I know who is going and who is staying and what areas I need to sign players in." We given our opinion above on who Luggy should show the door, but we're happy to leave it to him, as long as one is definitly Louie Soares; doh!On
