But the winger is sure he can get even better for Blues. And he aims to prove that at MK Dons this Saturday. "It's a difficult and very important game for us so we will all need to play well. I feel like I have been doing that in the last few games and it's because I've had a run of matches in the team. If you look I've never really had that before and I want to make the most of this chance the gaffer has given me. I want to keep the shirt and my place in the team and show what I can do. I still feel there is a lot more to come from me, including some goals, and hopefully I can show that on Saturday." Scannell joined the Shrimpers from non-league Eastleigh in January 2008 but since then he has made just 16 starts. He has not been helped by injuries and illness but in recent weeks he has started to shine. And, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, he is keen to keep that improvement going. "Contracts do come into your mind and hopefully I can carry on playing well to earn myself another deal here. If that doesn't happen then another club might see me and offer me a contract, but either way I need to be playing well."
