Crewe Alexandra's Dario Gradi on Southend United: 'They will come here & make it a proper game'

The Railwaymen's veteran manager Dario Gradi knows Blues boss Paul Sturrock well, and expects a good game of footy at Gresty Road Tuesday evening. Dario Gradi:After Luggy's tactics have been questioned and his team selection queried for the 2-1 defeat against Lincoln at the weekend, against a team not managed by Tilson it would have just been another loss, it will be nice for him to come up against Dario Gradi, who seems to have been at Crewe when Eddie Firmani was stroking the ball around Roots Hall, in fact he's in his third spell since taking over in 1983, so Roy McDonough then, who at least appreciated his fine record in the game.Gradi told www.crewealex.net: "With Paul in charge, I'm sure Southend will come here and make it a proper game. They will play football and we will have to play well to beat them"With the injuries we've been picking up maybe not that well, however, for Dario, it's all about what Crewe side turn up!Gradi said: "You just don't know what to expect from us. Last week we lost at Macclesfield and then a few days later, beat the top team in the league and keep a clean sheet. Of course, they are totally different games but that can happen in this league."Then again Dario both those side's have done the double over us so we can't really comment. One thing is fact, they have a good record at Gresty Road.Gradi concluded: "Our results at home have been better that they have been away - but we do not prepare any differently. Perhaps it could be down to the opposition when they visit us. I don't understand the reason because we always look to attack regardless if we are at home or away. We had a good win at Southend earlier in the season and played well on the day. Saying that the first goal was all-important and we managed to get it. Since then Southend have gone on a fairly consistant run and Paul has done very well for them."Though his tactics for that game were certainly very strange, a mistake Paul Sturrock will not make tonight, if anything because he hasn't got the players available to experiment, unless he brings back Luke Prosser, at left-back!And they even missed a spot-kick!:www.southendunited-mad.co.uk/rprt/mtch/southend_united_0_crewe_alexandra_2_570243/index.shtml
