Coughlan: Sturrock has the Midas touch

Defender Graham Coughlan has backed boss Paul Sturrock to restore success at Southend. The club have been hampered by financial problems and were forced to offload many of their players over the summer. Sturrock has signed a number of free agents in order to strengthen his squad, but a recent 2-0 defeat to non-league Dartford suggests they may need some time to gel as a team. New-boy Coughlan remains confident, however, having played under Sturrock at Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth. "I don't know what it is but I always seem to respond to the Paul Sturrock way," said the 35-year-old. "I can't put my finger on it but he's just one of those loveable characters and he has been very successful as well. He just seems to have the Midas touch. At any club he seems to progress and I hope to be part of that success again."
