Clohessy return for Shrimpers

Southend defender Sean Clohessy is available again after a one-match ban for the visit of leaders Torquay. The right-back missed Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy win against Gillingham after being sent off against Bradford. He now looks set to be recalled against the Gulls while striker Scott Spencer has recovered from a back problem that forced him out of the last two matches. Spencer has been suffering with back spasms but returned to training on Thursday. That means Southend's only injury doubt is centre-back Mark Phillips, who is suffering with a hamstring problem. Boss Paul Sturrock is looking for his side to turn Roots Hall into a fortress, saying: "Away from home we have been very competitive and looked a very good side, but at home we have not reached those heights."
