Clarke still playing waiting game
The 27-year-old was named as the club's Player of the Year on Saturday after another fine season at the heart of the Shrimpers' defence.[LNB]But recent weeks have been overshadowed by a verbal tug-of-war between the former Everton man and club chairman Ron Martin over whether or not he has been offered an extension to his deal which is about to expire.[LNB]"Now the games are out of the way I'm sure there will be some dialogue between the club and myself," Clarke told Southend's official website.[LNB]"I've never asked to leave but I don't know what the chairman has in mind so we will have to see what comes to pass."[LNB][LNB]
