Former Blues midfielder and all round rotweiller Alan MCormack could be back to face his old side at Roots Hall Tuesday evening, and can't wait to revive some fond memories. It's only three steps to Wembley - 3McCormack:With Benson's meeting up and Simon Francis possibily back in the Addicks side to face Southend United Tuesday in the Southern Area Quarter-Finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, then throw in Alan McCormack, and it's a right old Shrimpers reunion. With 166 appearances spread over two periods with the club between 2005-10 and it's no doubt he was a firm favourite with the Blues faithful before leaving in the close season along with a number of old favourites.Macca told www.echo-news.co.uk: "As soon as the draw as made there was a tingle going down the back of my spine. I am really looking forward to the game and coming back to Southend to see the fans and staff. I had so many great times at the football club and I look back on my time there with fond memories even though things did end on a low note." While accepting that the movement of the senior players from the Tilly era was probably inevitable he had nothing but good to say about his old side under new Blues boss Paul Sturrock.Macca continued: "Everyone has moved on now and we're all smiling again so long may that continue for both of us. It was always going to take time for Southend to settle down with 10 new players in their starting line-up but everyone I've spoken to has told me that Paul Sturrock is doing a fantastic job. Things are beginning to gel together too and that was shown by them coming back twice at Macclesfield on Saturday so it will be a difficult game for us this evening. Hopefully they can carry on doing well and get back to where they belong because I still have a lot of friends in Southend and I would love to see them do well - just not tonight."
