Tara Brady: He's lasted a year with Uncle Ron above him, the boxing obviously helps!
Doesn't time fly; Shrimpers CEO Tara Brady has been in the job for a year now but it hasn't always beeen a bed of roses, not surprising with Chairman Ron Martin still in overall control!
Brady has told the Echo he's not enjoyed the role as much as he hoped and is disappointed over what he believes are low attendances despite our current success, and the correspondance he receives over the Shrimpers style of football.
However, he not only expects us to gain promotion, no surprise there, but if he survives another 12 months, that we will be a force to be reckoned with in the third tier.
Well, when you look at Stevenage, play-off winners and now in sixth position in League One, why not. (We won't mention Wycombe and Chesterfield!)
And seeing as Boro have just lost their manager to Preston due to his winning record, and look at their 'style' of footy, makes us look like Barcelona, it's a good think Brady has moved to improve Blues boss Paul Sturrock's contract.
As for the attendences, their is a recession going on, and the entire 2009/10 season and Martin's treatment of Tilly at the end of it still leaves a sour taste for many Shrimpers followers.
Takes time for wounds like that to heal, but as for the footy played, looks OK to me, very exciting most of the time, and we do play the ball to players feet, we just get it to the forwards quicker than most but we have the players that can deal with it and then know what to do.
It's also hardly Luggy's fault that in Ryan Hall he has the best at creating opportunities for team-mates to score than any other player in all four league tiers and probably a few non-league ones as well!
