Southend trialist Calum Butcher is keen on a summer move to the club. The 20-year-old former Tottenham and Ipswich centre-back has impressed in the two appearances he has made for United's reserve side. Local boy Butcher, who began his career in the Blues youth set-up, told the Southend Echo: "It would be great to play for my local team. I think the club has the support and management structure to push for promotion next year and I would love to be a part of that. "Also, with the new stadium planned for the near future, I predict great things for the club and hopefully I proved to the manager in the games I had that I can play and be an asset to them next year." However, United will have to decide soon if they want to sign Butcher as the player admits he has other options to consider. He added: "At present I do have several clubs interested. But I just have to be patient and keep fit until such time that the right deal comes along."
