The Bulls of Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman has under a week to get the right tactics in place to try and beat the odds by taking the Bulls to thier first victory over Southend United since 1986! Pitman: 'Trying to make sure we are right and ready for the following Saturday'   Bulls boss Jamie Pitman dismissed a poor performance to Blue Square Conference side Forest Green, based in Nailsworth, Goucestershire, after young goalkeeper James Wren had a day to forget as the Bulls crashed to a 3-0 friendly defeat a week before facing the Shrimpers in the opening League Two fixture for the sides at Roots Hall.   A fixture that last brought joy to the Herefordshire side in March 1986 when they won 2-1, Roy McDonaugh got our goal, since then it's been nine successive victories for Southend, including a 4-0 bashing for the Bulls only last March.   However, to be fair to Wren it's probably Adam Bartlett to start in goal for Hereford on August 6th, but it was his blunder at the weekend that let James Norwood's strike creep in at the near post after 20 minutes. And it got worse for the boy when he passed the ball straight to Rovers striker Reece Styche who duly tucked away the second after the break. James Rowe wrapped up the win for the hosts while Hereford missed a penalty through Rob Purdie. Pitman told www.herefordunited.co.uk: "The result doesn't mean anything, the result is not the issue. The issue is that we are trying to prepare for next Saturday. Monday is a different kettle of fish. It will be a team that is looking to play the following Saturday. I've got to decide over the weekend what team I feel is right and what formation is right to into the game at Southend. Pre-season is about developing the younger players, trying to get them involved. And it trying to make sure we are right and ready for the following Saturday." Meanwhile, French striker Yoann Arquin has completed his move to Hereford after a successful pre-season trial. The 23-year-old had been training with the Bulls in recent weeks and scored two goals in their 3-0 pre-season victory over CF Molina and Pitman was delighted to be able to secure the signature of the former Paris Saint Germain player. Pitman said: "I'm delighted we've got Yoann on board. In the short time he's been with us he's been very impressive. He's given everything in training and we think he's got great potential. He's quick on the ball, has some great touches and I think he could be really exciting." We will see. Less than a week to go folks, then the talking stops!
