Buckle: 'You have got to score goals to win games'

Bristol Rovers manager Paul Buckle travels to Roots Hall with his team Saturday afternoon knowing they have to tighten up all over the pitch if they are going to get a return from the league leaders Southend United.

Buckle: 'Football is a team game, win, lose or draw, we are all in it together'   Pirates boss Paul Buckle is starting to feel the pressure with his costly assembled squad not finding the consistant form he saw when in charge of Torquay last season, and he shouldn't find it easy at Roots Hall Saturday when the face an unbeaten from fifteeen games Shrimpers side full of confidence.   Buckle told www.bristolrovers.co.uk: "We have to be water tight all over and switched on. They are riding high and have got their season up and running very quickly and we have been very stop, start. We know that and we are desperate t change that. Ultimately it comes from keeping clean sheets, and we have to be switched on at set plays. It's a team effort, football is a team game, win, lose or draw, we are all in it together."   No argument there and Buckle continued the theme that the team working for each other is the only way they will turn things around.   He said: "Come Saturday we will have to have everyone at it to get something out of the game. You have got to get the balance right between attacking and defending. You have got to score goals to win games. We must not change things, as there are a lot of good things going on. We are playing good football and creating chances, we have just got to get more composure in front of goal, at the other end we have got to be disciplined."   Er, fair enough Paul, goals certainly win games!   Buckle continued: "A win always helps the mood, it is what football us about. it is about winning, and we have got to get that winning mentality throughout the club. It starts with grinding out a result and that's what we have to do. We are working very hard, there is a lot of frustration around the place but only we can put that right. We have got loads to work on, on and off the field. It's very much a work in progress and we want to get a win on Saturday. We are desperate to get a run of results on the board, I am very sure this group of players can do it."   The S24 Preview: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk   A new striker needed though, vote here: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk    S24 is looking to build up it's editorial team, why not join us at the Shrimpers fastest growing unofficial site with up to and over 2,000 hits a day currently this month?
