An update from trialist striker Yannick Boli's agent has the Frenchman moving ever closer to putting pen to paper and becoming a Blue!

Yannick Boli: 'Please Luggy, let me be a Shrimper, I won't ask for too much money'   According to Noful El Abbassi, the agent of Shrimpers trialist Yannick Boli, the former Paris Saint Germain striker is moving ever closer signing for the club!   This follows on from his two goals in two reserve games and Southend working out if we could afford him within the League Two pay structure, which limits spending on players' wages to 60 per cent of the club’s turnover.   But, who knows, Boli could be a Blue in time to sit on the bench against Torquay United Saturday at Roots Hall!   Now that would get Blair worried about his present position in the squad!   El Abbassi told www.echo-news.co.uk: “Yannick trained with the team yesterday (Thursday) and I think the move is close to being done. We’re not asking for a lot of money and Yannick would like to sign for Southend. He’s an exciting talent who came close to signing for Real Madrid only three years ago so it a good deal for both parties. He wants to help get Southend in to League One and he’s the type of player who could also be sold on to make the club some money in the future.”   The Frenchman Boli has previously played for Le Havre on loan, an according to the Echo has been checked out by Chrissy Powell's Charlton Athletic, as well as Burnley and Shrewsbury Town, as well as nearly joining Blackpool two seasons ago!   Who needs José Mourinho with that list!   Blues boss Paul Sturrock did say Thursday: “I have to decide if someone can go from playing at Paris Saint Germain to playing at Macclesfield Town on a cold, wet Tuesday night. There’s no doubting Yannick is an exciting player who has plenty of pace and is very good on the ball. However, I have to weigh up if he would be able to adapt to playing in our team and also the English game. We have spoken to Yannick’s agent so we have a ball-park figure of what he’s asking for now. But we’re right on top of our playing budget now and that’s something else we will have to take in to consideration.”   With the Big Baz injury situation on-going another forward would not go amiss in the Shrimpers squad, and would certainly ease supporters concerns if players picked up knocks and suspensions as the clocks turn back and we enter the mid-season stage.   Continue watching this space!   Luggy has a Corr concern: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk    Possible Shrimpers striking targets: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk    So what do you think the attendence will be on Saturday against Martin Ling's Torquay United?: www.southendunited-mad.co.uk
