Blues make double swoop

Southend boss Paul Sturrock has completed the signings of goalkeeper Rhys Evans and defender Graham Coughlan. Both players have signed one-year deals with the Blues as Sturrock starts to build a squad capable of bouncing back to League One. Former Chelsea trainee Evans, who joins from Bristol Rovers, is the second keeper Sturrock has brought in this summer while Coughlan, who will add some experience to the side with 423 league appearances under his belt, was a free agent after being released by Shrewsbury. Both players have been with the Blues throughout pre-season and will have their registrations lodged with the Football League once the club's transfer embargo is lifted.
