Blues back to Braintree
In another addition to the pre-season schedule a Southend United X1 will travel to the Conference South champions Braintree Town in July. It wasn't a bad season for The Iron and after being crowned Conference South Champions at the end of the last campaign they will start 2011/12 in the Blue Square Conference, quite a step up, though Braintree v Lincoln has a ring about it. Anyway, to help them get into shape they will now be facing a Shrimpers eleven on Wednesday, July 20th; kick-off 19.45. The Iron play at their Cressing Road ground and we're do a full Day Return feature over the next week. Braintree have former Shrimpers keeper Nathan McDonald in their ranks where he is the current player of the season as well as being in the Blue Square South Team of the 2010/11 season! This should complete the pre-season friendlies and here is the updated schedule.
