Bentley: 'There is no doubt that Southend United are on a roll'

Morecambe player/manager Jim Bentley wants to get 'back to basics' at the weekend, and return to the form that has brought about 14 points on their travels already during the present campaign!

Bentley: 'Been a bit too open for my liking and need to get back to basics'   In six away games this season Morecambe have won four and drawn two so remain unbeaten.   Forget the patchy form at the Globe Arena, three defeats there, they love it on the road, maybe the sea air will confuse them!   Shrimps player-boss Jim Bentley wants to see the sort of form that saw his side do the double over the Shrimpers last time around, though he'll be well aware that this is a different Southend side that lost 3-2 at Roots Hall and 2-1 in Lancashire.   The present league leaders have scored 13 goals and let in one while winning five successive league games, picking up 15 points in the process. Not bad!   Bentley told www.thevisitor.co.uk: “There is no doubt that Southend are on a roll and will be looking forward to the game. They have lowered their prices and there could be a really big crowd there so it is going to be a test. But we have done well ourselves this season on our travels and got results by working hard and giving the opposition very few chances. We have had some exciting games recently but have been a bit too open for my liking and need to get back to basics."   Have no doubt though, this should be a tough test on Saturday in front of a bumper crowd in south-east Essex.   League Two Top Seven   1 Southend United 12 4 1 1 9 3 4 0 2 12 9 8 1 3 21 12 25 +9 2 Crawley Town 12 5 0 1 14 5 3 1 2 8 12 8 1 3 22 17 25 +5 3 AFC Wimbledon 12 3 1 2 13 11 4 1 1 9 7 7 2 3 22 18 23 +4   4 Shrewsbury Town 12 5 1 0 13 5 2 1 3 5 9 7 2 3 18 14 23 +4 5 Oxford United 12 2 4 0 10 5 4 0 2 7 5 6 4 2 17 10 22 +7 6 Morecambe 12 2 1 3 12 7 4 2 0 11 4 6 3 3 23 11 21 +12 7 Cheltenham Town 12 4 1 1 9 4 2 1 3 9 11 6 2 4 18 15 20 +3   The Bentley Files   Personal information Full name James Bentley Date of birth 11 June 1976 (1976-06-11) (age 35) Place of birth Liverpool, England Height 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) Playing position Defender Club information Current club Morecambe (Player-Manager) Number 5 Youth career   Manchester City Senior career* Years Team Apps† (Gls)† 1997–2002 Telford United 161   2002– Morecambe 328 (24) Teams managed 2011– Morecambe * Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only and correct as of 00:00, 30 April 2011 (UTC).† Appearances (Goals).
