Blues captain Adam Barrett gives out a rallying cry to the supporters as well as the remaining members of the first team squad that every effort will be made to secure League One football next season. Barrett: 'The fans were absolutely tremendous and got behind the players' Shrimpers skipper and all round legend Adam Barrett paid tribute to players and supporters alike for the effort showed over the last three games that may have been pointless but showed their was enough spirit at the club to avoid relegation, starting with the long trip to Hartlepool next Saturday.Captain Adam told www.southendunited.co.uk: "To play against one of the top teams with just 10 men and graft and work our socks off the way we have, I'm proud of the players. We put our bodies on the line and to come away with nothing again, just like the Norwich City game, it is a real sickner. Yet again the fans were absolutely tremendous and got behind the players. With everything that's going on, it is very tough at the moment, but we have to pick ourselves up."On the sending off Christophe, a massive turning point after only 20-odd minutes, Barrett couldn't give a definitive answer.Adam admitted: "I haven't seen the incident with the red card, but Nicky has definitely made a meal of it and Jeff has been sent off so early on. To play 70 minutes with 10 men, I think the lads put in a tremendous effort." Captain Adam realises that March, with a maximum of 15 points on offer and three games to be played at Roots Hall, is vital to the club's attempt to remain in the third tier of the league ladder. He continued: "We have to work extremely hard and keep showing this spirit and give ourselves a chance of staying up. Hopefully, a little bit of lady luck is going to turn our way and we can start picking up points, but I'm confident we can do that because there are plenty of games to go."Come on Adam, now for the Braveheart bit.The Southend skipper concluded: "The effort and commitment has been tremendous for a team which has been put together again and is patched up. We are ready to fight for the cause and fight for this football club, I know I certainly will, and I'm sure the players will do everything we can to stay in this division." Blimey, S24 are looking for ways to get to the north-east and back as we write.COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!
