Barrett baffled by postponement
Referee Keith Hill made the decision to call off the match due to a frozen pitch at Roots Hall only 20 minutes before kick-off.[LNB]Despite agreeing with the decision to call the game off, Barrett believes it should have been made much earlier.[LNB]"I just find it all very odd and it baffles me why the game just couldn't have been called off earlier. The pitch must have been in a similar state at around 4 o'clock or even earlier so why not postpone it then," Barrett told the Southend Echo.[LNB]"It just seems crazy to me and I don't understand why it was left so late. At that time of the day it's only going to get worse because there's no sunlight and it isn't fair on the fans.[LNB]"There were parts of the pitch which were dangerous and had ice on. That's why we couldn't have played but it's just very frustrating and a situation which could easily have been avoided."[LNB][LNB]
