Barnard happy to lead the way
The former Tottenham trainee notched a second-half brace as the Shrimpers eased to a 2-0 triumph at Edgeley Park.
Barnard has bagged 10 goals in all competitions this season, including eight in the league.
He told the Southend Echo: "It's been a fantastic start to the season for me and it's great to have got another couple of goals to help us win the game.
"I felt we deserved the three points too because we played well and, although it took a while to get the goals, we kept on going and got our rewards in the end."
