The former Tottenham trainee has already fired eight goals in the 2009/10 campaign, having only managed 11 last year.
Barnard ,25, believes his goalscoring form is down to the team making more chances for him.
He told the club's official website: "I think we are creating more opportunities.
"The full-backs are pushing on a bit more and Simon Francis has made a number of my goals with his crosses.
"Last year I still put chances away but I'm not doing anything differently now and just seem to be getting more opportunities to score, which is great for me."
