Blues full back Chris Barker, and part-time centre half recently, is now a full time Shrimper and looks forward to being part of the Paul Sturrock revolution at the club. He's now a full time Blue: Left-back Chris Barker joins Southend UnitedDefender Chris Barker has expressed his relief at completing a permanent deadline-day transfer from league One side Plymouth Argyle to the Shrimpers.The last-minute deal was completed shortly before Tuesday's transfer window deadline at 18.00, and the 30-year-old is pleased to be staying at Roots Hall following a successful loan spell.Barker told www.southendunited.co.uk; "The deal literally got done in the last few minutes so it was a relief to get it through in time. I have really enjoyed myself over the last month"The happy Shrimper was now only looking to the future, which he believes is bright for the Essex club.Chris continued: "We are trying to build a club again. I have signed for two years at least and hopefully it might be longer. So hopefully we can now push on and bring some success back to the club."Let's hope Johnny Herd, who still remains at the club for the moment, has a future with the club though he now seems third in the pecking order.
