Barker in Shrimps frame
Southend manager Paul Sturrock could welcome back Chris Barker for the visit of Macclesfield.
Barker has returned to training following a calf injury with Sturrock pinpointing either Tuesday or Saturday for his possible return. If the visit of Gary Simpson's men does come too soon for the defender he should make his comeback at the weekend against Shrewsbury.
Ryan Hall missed the 1-1 draw with Accrington at the weekend and could come back into the Shrimpers' squad if he recovers in time. Sofiene Zaaboub should continue on the left flank if Hall is ruled out.
Mark Phillips looks set to miss out with a groin injury while Graham Coughlan returned to the bench on Saturday and could be recalled to the first XI.
