Banned trio out of Robins test

Southend manager Paul Sturrock has a trio of players suspended for the trip to Cheltenham. Peter Gilbert was sent off in the final minute of the 1-1 draw with Stevenage and after deciding against appealing the dismissal will start the first game of his three-match ban. Bilel Mohsni and Anthony Grant will both miss the game due to a one-match ban after picking up their fifth bookings of the season at Broadhall Way. Sturrock is also without Mark Phillips who has recently undergone a hernia operation and will be occupying the sidelines for some time but Barry Corr is pushing for a start following a back injury. Chris Barker has been struggling with a calf injury but despite returning to training, the game at the Abbey Business Stadium is likely to come soon with Saturday's game a more realistic target for the defender.
