Southend United have recalled midfielder Merrick James-Lewis from Conference side Braintree Town where he was on loan. Merrick James-Lewis: will face the Farmers on Tuesday with the reserves The Shrimpers have decided to recall Merrick James-Lewis from his loan spell at non-league Braintree Tree. It comes with the midfielder having been used sparingly by the Blue Square Bet Premier side, failing to even make their matchday 16 for Saturday's 1-0 victory at home to Newport. James-Lewis, 19, joined Braintree at the start of August and made a total of two starts and two substitute appearances. His return also coincides with the one-match suspension of midfielders Ryan Hall and Anthony Grant for this weekend's trip to Rotherham after they both picked up their fifth bookings of the season in Saturday's 2-0 win over Plymouth. James-Lewis will now take part in Southend's reserve clash against Colchester at Roots Hall on Tuesday. A spot on the bench beckons for Merrick at Rotherham on Saturday.
