Asante after Stockport: 'It was a fantastic moment for me to score the first goal of my career'

And let's hope it's the first of many for the Shrimpers first team over the years thogh it couldn't completely take away from Stockport County winning the game in the final minute. Asante: 'Getting injured and being out that long was hell for me'He's just 19, fit again after over a year out with a cruciate ligament injury, and has just scored his first senior goal in the 2-1 defeat to Stockport County at Edgeley Park Saturday. As it came with only nine minutes left on the clock it seemed as if the teenager had done enough to rescue a point for the Shrimpers but it was not to be when the home side snatched a atoppage time winner. Asante told www.echo-news.co.uk: "It was a fantastic moment for me to score the first goal of my career but of course letting a late goal in like we did made it less memorable. If my goal had made sure we got a point I would have been delighted but maybe we got tired at the end and let in a goal which meant we lost, and we're obviously very disappointed." Well, crap happens, and now Kyle has to hope he's done enough for that pro contract to be placed in front of him again as it was before he picked up such an awful injury. And seeing the situation the club is in at the moment, we're guessing the odds are in the Chelmsford born boy's favour it will! Asante continued: "I'd love to play more in the games we have left and do well enough to be able to sign as a pro. Getting injured and being out that long was hell for me but the contract I was offered is still there. I just have to prove I'm fit enough to play and I hope this goal will go some way to showing that." Luggy's no fool; Crawford & Asante could be a Shrimpers striking line-up for many years to come, and won't even break any transfer embargo.Or cost Uncle Ron much in wages!Kyle returns:www.southendunited-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/to_hell_and_back_with_the_blues_my_aim_is_to_kick_on_now_and_get_another_professional_deal_644933/index.shtmlSo do you want chairman Ron Martin to go?
