'Finally arrived at the hotel in Southend. Thanks for all the messages can't wait to get started!!'

That's the word from Luke as he tweets his arrival as a Shrimper to join the squad to face Barnet at Underhill Tuesday evening.

We got it right, just forget the Spurs bloke we mentioned as well, as Southend United are in fact looking at West Brom's Luke Daniels to replace usual No.1 Glenn Morris, who will be out for up to four weeks with a thigh strain.

The Shrimpers will hope he gets pen to paper on a loan deal for tonight's game in North London, but certainly for Saturday's tough trip to Macclesfield Town.

His own news that he is safely enclosed in a local hotel though, be nice to know what we can afford on that score, make it all seem that Daniels will make his United debut unnder the lights at Barnet.

Yet to turn out for the Baggies first team, Luke has packed his bags on several occasions to play for teams in the lower leagues since joining the West Midlands Premiership side in 2004 as a youth from Manchester United.

Overall he has made 101 career appearances, of which he didn't get beaten on 30 of them, nearlly a third, a decent record.

Luk'e greatest triumph was the season of 2008/09 when with Shrewsbury Town he went on to play 44 times, helping take the Shrews make the final of the League Two play-offs at Wembley but they were beaten by Gillingham 1-0.

And there was the clue, during that time he played with present Shrimpers centre-back and reserve team coach Graham Coughlan, who just might have had a word in Blues boss Paul Sturrock'sear.

Tough on tennage shot stopper Daniel Bentley who did noting wrong when he came out for Morris as substitute in the Gulls gutting, the goal he let in took a big deflection, but quite rightly we feel Luggy has gone for more experience as the Essex boys continue on their quest to get out of the bottom tier.
