Alassane N'Diaye set to return to Crystal Palace: 'Hope he manages to go somewhere & get games'

Southend United striker Neil Harris has confirmed speculation that loanee midfielder Alassane D'Aiaye will be returning to the Eagles before the end of his season long loan, something his boss is not prepared to do! Alassane N'Diaye: Could be the shortest season long loan on record The rather over-hyped story by Echoman Chris Phillips suddenly turned the Shrimpers squad into a bunch of aggressive nutters overnight, something that Southend vice-captain Neil Harris would like to dispel, and he had a good go in the very same local paper. Bilel Mohsni and his runaway temper is discussed elsewhere, but the news that midfielder Alassane D'Aiaye was involved in a spat with Jamel Johnson in training was arguably the best bit, especially the news that the player, who had looked so hapless in the team's pre-season games that he took part in, and had only been seen in any form sitting in the stand at Roots Hall since the League Two season started, was on his way back to parent club Championship Crystal Palace after less than two months into a season long loan. News that won't please Eagles boss, our former striker Dougie Freedman, who had hoped he'd saved D'Aiaye's wages until May at least. And after all that wait to hear he'd signed, remember the 48 hours! However, Blues boss Paul Sturrock would only say he was in discussions with the Frenchman, which is fair enough, but Harris in his weekly Echo column has given us an update on the N'Diaye mystery Harris told www.echo-news.co.uk: "There have been a few other issues and it does seem like Alassane N’Diaye, or big Dave as we call him, will be heading back to Crystal Palace which is a shame because his loan spell here hasn’t really worked out the way everyone hoped it would. I’m not too sure what’s happening with his future at the moment, but he’s a really nice guy and I hope he manages to go somewhere else and get games because it’s what he needs most." Harris: 'The well documented discipline problems have to be addressed by ourselves' Whatever he may tell the media Luggy must be silently quite pleased if he has the excuse to send N'Diaye back to Selhurst Park ten months before schedule seeing how poor he's looked, JP Kalala has been a far more inspired signing in a similar position to the one the 6ft 5 youngster was pencilled in to play. Moreover, it gave the former Millwall scoring legend, yet to really look at his best in the blue of Southend, a chance to knock back the frankly stupid 'in-fighting' suggestion that the original article gave, bringing up Anthont Grant and the scenes after Accrington was lazy journalism, in the very paper that put it out there, love the irony. Harris explained: "We have a weird and wonderful bunch of boys in the dressing room and the mix is first class. Any good team that becomes successful has a great togetherness and respect for each other. So the well documented discipline problems have to be addressed by ourselves and eradicated as soon as possible to enable the team spirit to carry us through difficult periods of games and tough times in the season. To have that excellent spirit, everyone from the Blues faithful to the players have to be pulling in the right direction." Phillips has confirmed N'Diaye was seen at the Blues training ground Thursday morning but could not say whether it was actually working out with the squad or for talks with Luggy.
