Adam Clayton Carlisle United on Shrimpers

Adam Clayton, the Cumbrians loanee midfielder from Manchester City, is confident a Wembley appearance next Sunday will not affect his new teams form in the vital clash with the Shrimpers. Clayton: If you just leave a leg in, you might get injured'"If you went into the game thinking that way, you would probably get injured. If there is a tackle to be made, you've got to make that tackle. If you just leave a leg in, you might get injured. Wembley is on your mind when you are off the pitch. When I talk to my dad and mum it gets mentioned a lot and you get excited and a bit carried away with it.I told my mum the other day that I hadn't slept for the last few nights, and she said, 'You're thinking about Wembley, aren't you?' I think it is slowly creeping into our minds and it is an exciting time for us all. But when you are on the pitch it is easy to shut all that out. We have got an important game at Southend to think about before we can allow ourselves to start looking forward to the big one."The first league goal of his career came with considerable style against the Glovers and confirmed the 21-year-old as a player of rising talent."The dressing room is buzzing. Since I've been here there has only been the occasional week when it's been down after a bad result or two. But if we win at Southend we are almost there and we can enjoy Wembley and the end to the season. To be honest, I can't see why Carlisle have been where they have been in the league before, because there is a brilliant team spirit here and some good individual players. The run of form we are on now is justified when you think of the ability we've got here."
