Wilkins shrugs off Pard luck story
Caretaker manager Dean Wilkins refused to blame the sacking of Alan Pardew for Southampton's shock 2-0 defeat at home to Rochdale.Pardew was dismissed following last week's 4-0 thrashing of Bristol Rovers and Saints have subsequently lost two home games in five days.Southampton had plenty of chances but failed to take any of them and were punished by Chris O'Grady in first-half injury time before Gary Jones added a second.Wilkins said: "We had a huge amount of possession but there was no dynamic in the last third of the pitch."But having said that we had enough chances to have been two or three goals ahead by the time Rochdale scored."This is hurting the players. The situation about Alan Pardew leaving earlier in the week did not affect us. We have to get on with the job and the players have to get on with their careers."
