We let our standards slip - Davis
Two goals from Luke Varney at Hillsborough proved enough to sink Saints and leaves them three points from safety with just two games remaining.
"I honestly don't know what happened. We didn't start right, we didn't play to the standards that we set and we just didn't look like a team that was going to win a game," said the Saints skipper.
"When the ref blows the whistle it's up to every man to perform and do their job. Obviously it doesn't always go to plan but we had to want it more than them and unfortunately it didn't show.
"Sheffield Wednesday did a very professional job and they were good enough to get the three points."
