Surman eyes Saints stay

England Under-21s midfielder Andrew Surman insists he has no intention of leaving the club in this month's transfer window.

The highly-rated 21-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs, but is more than happy to stay at St Mary's for the time being.

He told the Saints' official website: "I haven't heard anything and I'm not expecting anything in the transfer window.

"I want to stay. It's my hometown club and I'd love to help us win promotion.

"We had a disappointing Christmas in terms of points so there was a bit of pressure on us against Leicester.

"We showed a lot of character to bounce back and I was delighted to get on the scoresheet. I was due a goal."

Surman has scored ten goals in 81 appearances for Southampton since making his debut two years ago.
