Surman eyes Saints recall

Southampton midfielder Andrew Surman is hoping to earn a recall for the clash with West Bromwich Albion after recovering from a knee injury.

Surman has been sidelined since sustaining knee ligament damage against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, but is now back in contention to face the Baggies.

He told the club's official website: "I don't know yet whether I will figure, but it is good to be back in the squad. It has been a very frustrating time.

"It's the longest I've been out as a professional and it's been hard watching the lads train and play and not being able to help them.

"I was having a good run before I got hurt, but hopefully I can pick up where I left off."

Surman, 20, has played 26 times for the Saints this season.
