Surman commits to Saints

Southampton midfielder Andrew Surman has put pen to paper on a new four-year contract with the Championship club.

The 20-year-old was a first-team regular for the Saints last season, having impressed while out on loan at Bournemouth during the previous campaign.

He told the club's official website: "I've always supported the club and played in the first-team for a couple of seasons now, so I had no hesitation in signing a new contract.

"Obviously I wouldn't have signed if I didn't think the club was going to go forward.

"You have to think of your career as well. I love playing for this club and I think we have a bright future.

"We are definitely a Premiership club playing in the Championship and I'm really looking forward to getting back up there."
