St Mary's all-star game scrapped

Legendary FA Cup-winning manager Lawrie McMenemy had organised a host of star names, including members of his triumphant 1976 squad as well as club icon Matt Le Tissier, to turn out for the game at St Mary's on Sunday. But with just 1,500 being sold by Wednesday morning, the decision has been taken to abandon the fixture. "Unfortunately it's been decided to call the game off because of a lack of ticket sales," said McMenemy. "Even though the game has been advertised for two and a half weeks, by Wednesday morning there had not been enough sold."
