Saints seal Davies coup

Southampton boss George Burley has clinched the permanent signing of Middlesbrough defender Andrew Davies for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Saints following a successful loan spell at St Mary's.

"Andrew's a very talented player and I'm delighted he's signed for us," Burley told the club's official website.

"He's young and has a bright future ahead of him. There's no doubt in my mind that he's Premiership quality."

Davies, who made 65 appearances for Boro, played in 12 games for Southampton during his loan spell with the club.
