Southampton manager Nigel Pearson has moved quickly to keep Richard Wright at St Mary's until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old West ham United shot-stopper moved on loan to the Saints last month and has made four starts for Pearson's relegation-threatened side.
Kelvin Davis is still not 100 per cent fit after cracking and dislocating a finger, so Pearson decided to extend Wright's stay on the south coast.
He told the Saints' official website: "I'm delighted Richard is able to stay until the end of the season. He's done well for us and has enjoyed his football.
"He's made some outstanding saves and has looked confident and composed. He's been a big presence for us while Kelvin's been sidelined."
