Saints fear for injured Dyer

Southampton winger Nathan Dyer may be sidelined until March with the ankle injury that has kept him out of the Saints' last two matches.

The 20-year-old has not played since Richard Stearman clattered into him in the 2-1 win at Leicester City earlier this month.

An initial scan has shown damage to a tendon behind an ankle which could mean surgery and a lengthy spell out of action.

Dyer joins Darren Powell, Inigo Idiakez, Alexander Ostlund, Chris Makin and Claus Lundekvam in the St Mary's treatment room, while Wayne Thomas and Jhon Viafara have gone down with flu.
