Southampton's Nigel Pearson is the latest manager to run the rule over well-travelled striker Michael Ricketts.
The former Bolton Wanderers forward and one-time England international is available on a free transfer following his release by Oldham Athletic in December.
The 29-year-old has played for 11 different clubs ? including Middlesbrough, Preston North End, Southend and Oldham on a permanent basis ? during a nomadic career.
The Birmingham-born frontman made a handful of League One appearances for Walsall on loan prior to being released by the Latics.
"It can never hurt to have a look at players and with Michael's record I felt he was someone worth looking at," Pearson told the club's official website.
"He is a free agent so we invited him down so we can have a look at him in training.
"He is here for the week and we will see how it goes."
