Saints season tickets selling well

27 July 2009 18:27
Saints season tickets went on sale just days after Markus Liebherr's takeover of the League One outfit earlier this month and the number sold has already passed 9,700, beating 2008/09's total of 9,615 when the club were in the Championship. Alan Pardew's appointment as manager has also provided a boost to sales, combined with Saturday's 3-0 pre-season triumph over Scottish Premier League side Hearts. Chief operating officer Andy Oldknow said: "The latest figures represent a fantastic achievement by the club. "To equal the number of season tickets sold last season when we were in the league above is great, but to then go on and beat that figure, and in such a short space of time is simply amazing. "It speaks volumes about the superb fan base at the club, a point not lost on our new manager Alan Pardew who has already gone on record to stress the huge role they will play over the course of the upcoming season."
