Saints get their man

Southampton have completed their first signing of the summer with the capture of Brentford's Ryan Dickson. The left-back, out-of-contract at the Bees this summer, has agreed a three-year deal and will officially join up with his new team-mates on July 1. Saints will have to pay a fee for the 23-year-old, who started his career at Plymouth before moving to Griffin Park in 2008, but this is likely to be set by a tribunal even though both club's valuation of the player were similar. Dickson told the club's official website: "Being from the south I know all about Southampton and know that it's a great club. You can tell that it has been through its dark days and that things are really turning around now for the better. "The chairman and the manager didn't have to sell it to me too hard. There were Championship clubs interested in me, but I can see the potential here, even though we are a division below. I want to play at the highest level and I know that this is the quickest way for me to able to do that."
