Saints boss eager for winning fix
Pardew was given a fine welcome by the St Mary's crowd but knows that he faces a tough challenge in steering the Saints back into the Championship at the first attempt.
He said: "I could tell when I turned up that the fans are desperate for a winning team.
"We are far from that and we need to get that winning habit back.
"I can see that there are some very good players in there. Maybe we need to bring in one or two to gel it all together but there are some good honest players.
"The new owners have sold me on their ambitions for the future and now it's down to me to get the team correct."
