Pards hails hero Davis

Southampton manager Alan Pardew hailed Kelvin Davis after the goalkeeper performed heroics against his boyhood favourites during the 1-1 draw at Brentford. Davis pulled off a string of sensational saves to earn Saints a hard-fought point, including a penalty save Kevin O'Connor after Paul Wotton had been harshly adjudged to have handled in the box. "He was absolutely outstanding but he has been for several matches now," said Pardew. "We knew it was going to be a tough place to come and all credit to Brentford they worked very hard for each other and made it difficult and showed a lot of quality. "We need to take a look and ask why we dropped so deep as the game wore on and invited them on. "We are still looking at the play-offs and this was another two points dropped but we only earned the point thanks to Kelvin."
