Pardew reveals Southampton lure
The former West Ham and Charlton boss last week signed a three-year deal to take charge of the south-coast club after talks with new owner Markus Liebherr.
"I can't think of another scenario where I would have joined a club in League One, but the fanbase and the infrastructure had a big part to play in my decision, as did the owners and their ambitions," said Pardew.
"I looked at the club and the takeover that has happened. The people who have taken over have impressed me greatly with what they had to say."
