Pardew: Our persistence paid off

Rahdi Jaidi grabbed an equaliser for the Saints deep in injury time after Scott Dobie had put the Cumbrians ahead after 69 minutes.

Pardew said: "We must have had 16 corners and we had so many chances that it was ironic their keeper had a magnificent game, yet made a mistake for our goal."

Pardew admitted: "Both goals were fortunate but that is six games unbeaten and this would have been a really harsh defeat. With that amount of pressure something needed to give and fortunately for us we got the chance and managed to take it.

"In the end persistence paid off."
