Southampton striker Grzegorz Rasiak's proposed switch to Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday has collapsed.
The Owls had been keen to land the 28-year-old Poland international, but boss Brian Laws has signalled an end to the pursuit.
He told the club's official website: "We're very disappointed. Negotiations have been going on a while, we've been going through the motions and the deal has been on and off.
"I've seen the contents of the letter from Southampton and they accepted a substantial offer, but they have now changed their demands.
"It has been very frustrating because they've changed the goalposts."
Rasiak has scored 25 goals in 57 appearances for the Saints since signing from Tottenham Hotspur in February 2006.
