No panic from Pardew
Southampton manager Alan Pardew called for calm after Plymouth picked up a 1-0 win on the opening day at St Mary`s.
The defeat puts early pressure on Pardew who came close to losing his job after failing to guide Saints to a play-off place last season but he insists there is no reason for panic.
Pardew said: "It is a disappointing way to start, but I said in the week the season has probably come a week too early for us because of the injuries we have.
"We had plenty of possession in the first half but were perhaps a little guilty of overplaying at times.
"Plymouth are determined to bounce straight back up and they have kept most of their Championship players, so I knew this was never going to be an easy game.
"It is a long season and there are another 45 games to go, so we are certainly not going to panic after one defeat."
