Lucketti open to Saints move

Veteran defender Chris Lucketti is open to making his loan spell at Southampton into a permanent transfer.

The 36-year-old centre-half helped Saints ease their relegation fears with an impressive display on his debut in Saturday's 2-0 win over Bristol City.

Lucketti arrived at St Mary's having made just a handful of appearances for parent club Sheffield United and has admitted his future lies away from Bramall Lane.

"We haven't spoken about the move becoming permanent. It was just to come down for the rest of the season and help the club in any way I can," he said.

"I have another year left at Sheffield so we will have to wait and see how it goes.

"It is looking less and less likely that I have a future at Sheffield so another of the reasons I came down was to show people at Sheffield I can still play."
