Lambert display pleases Pardew

Striker Lambert, who arrived on Monday afternoon from League One rivals Bristol Rovers, seized upon a Lloyd James cross after 29 minutes to head his new side into the lead. Adam Lallana added a second goal after half-time as Northampton threw men forward in search of an equaliser. "Rickie is more than a goal scorer and we are delighted to have him here," said Pardew. "It was a relatively easy goal for him but he led the line very well and he will be a big asset for us. "It is one step at a time for us but it is certainly a step in the right direction as it is nice to get that first win in charge. "It was also important to get that clean sheet as you do not want to be conceding goals."
