Lallana blow for Southampton

Published: 03 Sep 2010 - 10:00:31

Southampton caretaker manager Dean Wilkins will be without Adam Lallana for the visit of Rochdale as he is preparing to undergo surgery on a knee injury.

Lallana had a scan during the week on his knee problem and is set to be ruled out for up to six weeks after the Saints medical staff confirmed the 22-year-old needed an operation.

As a result, new Brazilian signing Guly do Prado is set to keep his place in the Saints' starting XI.

Wilkins will also be without Lee Barnard who is suspended for the clash. Barnard was dismissed in Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat to Swindon and faces a three-match ban.

Lee Holmes (groin) is back in training alongside Frazer Richardson (shoulder), but both are some way off from a return to action.
