Hughton denies Lambert link
Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has denied that Southampton's leading scorer Rickie Lambert is a transfer target for the Championship leaders.
Lambert has been in scintillating form this season with 21 goals for Alan Pardew`s side in all competitions.
This has resulted in the 27-year-old being linked with a move to the Magpies as Hughton mulls over alternatives should he fail in his attempt to lure Jermaine Beckford from Leeds.
However, while Hughton revealed his admiration for Lambert, he insists he has no intention of making a move for the player.
"We aren't looking to bring Rickie here. He is a very good player and one who is doing well this season, like he did last season, but he is not one we are looking at," Hughton told the Chronicle.
